Writing: Voice

In Your Own Words

Today's Snack: Enjoy a ripe pear, and PAIR it with a glass of apple juice.

--------------------

Supplies:

Your favorite kiddie book from preschool or early school years

Or . . . find copies of the following famous children stories

Piece of writing paper | No. 2 pencil

Let's re-write a familiar story in your own "voice."

First, re-read your favorite book from preschool or the early grades of school. Or you can choose one of these familiar stories to rewrite:

Little Red Riding Hood

Humpty Dumpty

The Three Little Pigs and the Wolf

Now choose one of these "voices" as the point of view for your rewrite, or make up a "voice" of your own:

Comedian . . . Rap musician . . . TV reporter . . . The villain . . . A smart-aleck squirrel who saw the whole thing . . . a space alien . . . a monster . . . your best friend

Try to fill at least one whole page re-telling the story in your unique "voice."
