Writing: Ideas
Fluency -- Generating Lots of Ideas
Today's
Snack: For your snack
today, go with the flow. Have one glass of fruit juice, and one glass of
vegetable juice. Wash it all down with a third glass - of ice water.
-------------------
Supplies:
Stopwatch or watch/clock
with a second hand
Scratch paper and pencil
Just imagine if a stream put out only a
drop of water per minute. It wouldn't exactly flow, would it? There wouldn't be
any waterfalls, or rapids, or wide areas in which you could fish. Without that
flow, there's not much to it, is there?
It's the same way with writing. The more
the ideas flow into your brain and onto the paper, the better your writing will
be. We call it "fluency" when you are able to create lots of ideas pretty rapidly.
It's a good thing!
So
get a stopwatch or a clock with a second hand, and give yourself one minute to
show your "fluency." Give as many answers as you can to these creativity
challenges. You can print this Treat out and write your answers down, record
them on scratch paper, or just say them aloud and let someone else either
listen to you, or record them for you.
How many answers can you give in 1
minute?
